St Albans Choral Society's 2025 Christmas Concert, ‘Follow the Star - Journeying with the Three Kings' will take place in the beautifully renovated St Peter’s Church, with our new music director Charlie Perry conducting.
Join us on a musical journey with the Three Kings to the manger. This festive concert gives us a new perspective on the Christmas story - the scale of the Magi’s pilgrimage; the anticipation and excitement for what they’ll find in Bethlehem; and the celebration and reverence on their arrival.
St Albans Choral Society will be singing a wide variety of carols including favourites by Rutter, MacMillan and Lauridsen. In addition, there will be more contemporary works by Anna Disley-Simpson, James Whitbourn and Sally Beamish, together with some seasonal readings. If that’s not enough then there will of course be a chance to join in with congregational favourites.
We hope you can join us to enjoy the music, and stay for wine and mince pies afterwards, which will be provided by and on behalf of Centre 33.
In addition to our favourite carols, the Choir programme will include:
James MacMillan – O Radiant Dawn
James Whitbourn – The Magi’s Dream
John Rutter – Star Carol
Cecilia McDowall – A Heavenly Song
Morten Lauridsen – O Magnum Mysterium
Sally Beamish – In the Stillness
